The 7 Best Drugstore Acne Fighting Cleansers

Updated: May 3, 2021

I know I did not just wake up with 3 not 1 but THREE new blemishes. Can anyone else relate to this? Keeping your skin balanced and clear is a job in itself. And not to mention the stress behind finding the perfect cleanser for your skin type. Trust me, I know. Sometimes one cleanser just doesn't do the trick for your skin every day. Let's see here, I have a cleanser for deep cleanses, dull skin, acne days, and the list goes on. With our skin forever changing having a different cleanser for every skin concern can become pricey. So you know your girl, "The Drugstore Beauty Queen" is here to save the day. Here is a list of my personal favorite cleansers for days when you're experiencing minor acne.

Tip: Please use these cleansers sparingly, and pay attention to your skin. Acne cleansers can dry your skin out. Try alternating between an everyday gentle cleanser and an acne cleanser.

Biore Charcoal Acne Cleanser $6.49 at Target

This is my absolute favorite cleanser when I am in need of a deep cleanse and experiencing acne. When I tell y'all after using this cleanser your skin is going to feel so refreshed, light and airy. Charcoal Acne Cleanser is an oil-free, gel cleanser. It is perfect for oily to normal skin. Get ready to wake up your skin and open your pores for a deep cleanse. And when I say, "open" that's exactly what it is going to do. This cleanser definitely tingles. Biore's Charcoal Acne Cleanser penetrates pores to prevent future breakouts while clearing current acne blemishes. My skin type is now normal, but up until about a year ago, I was an oily skin type. I have been using Biore's Charcoal Acne Cleanser for at least 5 years. It will forever be a part of my cleanser collection. I don't recommend using this cleanser every day as it can strip the skin too much.

Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser $6.79 at Target

If you're looking for a gentle cleanser that fights minor acne, this is the one. Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser is a good cleanser for acne-prone skin. Made with salicylic acid to fight acne, and soy to help even skin tone and smooth texture. Being that it contains salicylic acid it can become over-dry. Be sure to monitor how your skin reacts.

UrbanSkin Rx Clear Skin Cleansing Bar $12.99 at Target

For those of us who don't have time to cleanse, exfoliate, and mask UrbanSkin Rx Clear Skin 3-in-1 cleanser could be your Holy Grail cleanser. (Because who really has time for all of that.) Bursting with the refreshing smell of eucalyptus this cleanser is perfect for oily skin types that are acne-prone. This cleansing bar comes with an exfoliating sponge to help slough off dead skin and unclog pores. UrbanSkin Rx Clear Skin Cleanser is made with a unique blend of 6 ingredients that work together to give your skin a healthier more even look.

Versed Keep the Peace Acne-Calming Cream Cleanser $16.99 at Target

Versed Skin Keep the Peace is a gentle foaming cream cleanser that is said to balance out your skin's pH. With ingredients such as blue tansy and salicylic acid Keep the Peace is perfect for sensitive problem skin. Versed Skin products are said to be, "the cleanest drugstore brand. Period." Well okay, then Versed! (I love a good clean brand.)

CeraVeAcne Foaming Cleanser $11.99 at Target

What do you get when you combine benzoyl peroxide, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide? Apparently one of the best acne-fighting cleansers. CeraVe Acne Foaming Cleanser fights acne while dissolving dirt and excess oil. Hyaluronic acid is used to help keep the skin hydrated and moisturized while niacinamide works to soothe the skin. (These two ingredients definitely will have your skin flourishing.)

No.7 Radiant Results Purifying Clay Cleanser $8.99

When you have sensitive skin it can be nerve recking to find a cleanser that doesn't irritate the mess out of your skin. No7 Radiant Results Purify Clay Cleanser is a soft creamy cleanser that deep cleans the skin while reducing the appearance of pores. For those of us who like a refreshed shine-free look, Radiant Results will get the job done every time.

Paula's Choice Pore Normalizing Cleanser $13.00

When I tell y'all Paula's Choice is so slept on, it doesn't make sense. Their products haven't stirred me wrong yet. (and y'all know I wouldn't lie to you.) If you haven't gotten on the Paula's Choice bandwagon yet, today is the day! Most acne-fighting cleansers can be overly drying, but not this bad boy. Paula's Choice Pore Normalizing Cleanser is a gentle cleanser that goes deep into the skin to remove dirt and makeup without causing drying. You can expect calm, refreshed skin after using morning and night.

Disclaimer: Paula's Choice can be purchased online. (I know I slipped this one in there but it's a wonderful brand with drugstore prices.)
